Accessibility Statement

We want every learner to be able to use EliExplains.org, including people who rely on assistive technology.

Our target

EliExplains.org aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as the site is built out. This is a voluntary engineering target we hold ourselves to, and this statement will be kept honest about where we stand.

What is in place today

The site currently uses semantic HTML landmarks and headings, a skip-to-content link, keyboard-operable navigation and controls with visible focus indicators, text alternatives for meaningful images, sufficient color contrast for text and interactive elements, support for browser zoom and text resizing through responsive layout, and reduced-motion styles that disable animations for users who set the prefers-reduced-motion preference. The welcome intro is a dismissible dialog that receives keyboard focus, supports Skip intro and Escape, and restores focus when it closes. Reduced-motion and forced-color preferences bypass the intro.

Known limitations

The site is under active construction, and new features are reviewed against this target as they ship; the search dialog is keyboard-operable, announces its result count to screen readers, and returns focus to the control that opened it. Decorative doodles and the mascot illustration are marked to be skipped by screen readers where they carry no information. If you find something that does not work with your assistive technology, that is a bug we want to fix.

Feedback

Report accessibility barriers to [email protected]. Please include the page address, the problem, and, if relevant, the browser or assistive technology you used so we can investigate.

Effective date: September 28, 2026. This page is reviewed whenever the site’s behavior changes.
